FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. HOW SHOULD I STORE MY TOBACCO?
If you have one of our storage buckets, store as much as you can in it. Press down to fit as much as you can. Make sure before you seal it up so no air can go in or out.
If you don’t have a storage bucket, you can still store it in the plastic bag it came in! Just make sure that it is as airtight as possible.
Store your sealed tobacco in a cool, dark place. Heat/direct sunlight can lead to mold growing over time, much like any other agricultural product. The back of a closet is a perfect place for it.
Be sure not to refrigerate or freeze your tobacco! This can break the veins in the tobacco leaf causing it to break down into “offal” (the dust and shattered tobacco you see at the bottom of bags)
2. HOW MUCH SHOULD I SHRED?
Only shred as much as you are about to roll. 1 lb of tobacco will make about 2.5 cartons worth of cigarettes. The rest of the Tobacco should stay in storage!
3. DO YOU SELL SHREDDED TOBACCO?
We do not. You can do it better. By shredding your own tobacco you can save money and have a better smoke. Shredding fresh tobacco reduces the amount of “offal” (dust/breakage), which lowers the burn temperature of the cigarette. Higher burn temperatures lead to an uneven smoke, and an overall unpleasant/harsher taste. In addition, to sell shredded tobacco different states have many different requirements and registries.
4. MY MACHINE DOESN’T SEEM TO BE WORKING RIGHT!
Check the moisture level of the tobacco. Tobacco moisture content is the #1 cause of machine problems. If its still not working you have a few options.

5. HOW COME I HAVE TO BUY 12.5 lbs AT A TIME? CAN’T I BUY LESS?
We want to make sure that you get the best, most accurate blends. In order to do that, you need to have as large a quantity as possible to get an even blend! In addition, selling blended strips at less then the quantity we sell places it subject to prohibitively high excise taxes.
6. DO YOU HAVE MENTHOL TOBACCO?
While none of our tobacco comes pre-mentholated, we do offer menthol crystals so you can mentholate your tobacco to taste!
MAKE YOUR OWN MENTHOL RECIPE
• 2 Teaspoons of menthol crystals
• ½ Cup of Everclear or any high proof alcohol
• ¼ teaspoon of USP (food grade) Glycerin- This is the adhesive.
• Spray bottle
Mix the menthol crystals into the Everclear. Stir the mixture until the crystals are completely dissolved. Add the glycerin and mix. Place the mixture into the spray bottle. Place tobacco in a tub and spray a few times. Mix the tobacco around and spray again. Repeat the process until the mixture has completely covered the tobacco. You will not necessarily use the whole mixture up completely. Allow the tobacco to dry overnight until the alcohol has evaporated. The object is to get as much menthol on the tobacco with the least amount of liquid. The recipe is designed for you to make a menthol tobacco to your liking.
Everclear or any high proof alcohol. You need 151 proof or higher.
USP (food grade) Glycerin, You can find this at Walmart.
