The following was developed from comments of people who use our unmanufactured tobacco to create their own menthol tobacco. More and more people are using Bacardi as opposed to Everclear.

Bacardi is more readily available it also offers less order and better to taste to most consumers. As long as the alcohol content is 151 or higher the product will suffice. A lot of people test with different liquors to create different flavors, (butterscotch and fruit blends being most popular)

Some people add ¼ teaspoon of USP - Food Grade Glycerin – Which acts as an adhesive.

It is easily sourced from locations like Walmart it is generally in the health or baking department. Popular brand is Humco Skin Protectant, commonly next to band aids. It can be sourced from some Hobby Shops (verification of food grade necessary).

LIGHT OR ULTRALIGHT Most smokers that are looking for a light or an ultra-light blend use a regular menthol tube, the Hot Rod tubes are known for being good strong menthol tube.

MEDIUM OR HEAVY A large number of menthol smokers use Hot Rod - Super Menthol Tubes, which were created as an alternative to using menthol crystals.

For customers seeking a medium to full strength menthol cigarette crystals are required. There is a learning curve involved. When done correctly the recipe makes about 8 ounces of menthol solution. Use about two thirds of this solution per pound and you will have something close to the standard store bought brands. When applying to the tobacco its best to be around 3-5 inches away and stir the portion of tobacco that is to be treated. By doing this it allows the menthol to spread evenly throughout the tobacco instead of pockets of strong menthol and pockets with none. Once the tobacco is treated it’s best to let it sit 1-2 hours or until dry. Some people try to speed this up by microwaving or baking the tobacco. This does cause the menthol to cure faster but can also result in dried out and in some instances burn the tobacco.
